An insurance investigator heads to a small town to find out the cause of a local pastor's death. Bill Sage is fantastic --his character, Leo, is jaded and wry, but finds himself increasingly pulled in by the mystery. He becomes more passionate about finding justice than he'd ever thought he could be. You get the sense that he once had a more glamorous life. In one scene, he pulls himself out of a car wreck with barely a reaction, like a James Bond who's found himself in the middle of rural Michigan. The movie is so well paced and has the dark humor of Fargo with a lot of the kind of dry wit found in Jim Jarmusch films. Fantastic score too, reminiscent of 1970s Ethiopian jazz.

There is something incredibly special about Hayseed. I love murder mysteries. This film kept me engaged, reeling me in with it's plot twists and turns. It's humourous yet realistically deals with the tragedy of losing a staple in the community while trying to uncover the truth of what happened.

The writing was phenomenal and the cast was spectacular. The cast did a great job capturing the different types of personalities you'd expect to find in a small Michigan Midwestern town.

Travis, (the writer & director), nailed the story and genre while delivering something unique and original in the creation of this film. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys whodunnit murder mysteries. What I also loved about this film was that despite the subject matter it's family friendly.

Anyone who grew up watching 70’s and 80’s detective shows will enjoy this “…oh, and, uhhhh just one more question” suspense!
In a time when films often rely on blood, guts, and bullets it’s refreshing to have a filmmaker utilize the script- unraveling of the truth through curiously digging through clues. Like an extended Columbo! Sure, there’s a bullet or two, but we don’t need the good guys if there aren’t any bad guys. And the best good guys, always have a dark past shadowing their search. Bill Sage nails that.

Cheers to the writer/director Travis Burgess for a fun first film! It’s nice to see in the times of blockbuster franchises that actual Indie films are still being made.

I bought this because it was filmed in my little town. I figured it wasn't going to be good. But I loved it.

I didn't know what to expect, but it definitely boosted my mood while fighting an unpleasant cold. Got caught into the storytelling right away and kept me guessing until the very end.

Great cast, very good job bringing their characters to life, each of them felt real and relatable. The director maintained a perfect pacing through the entire movie, never letting the suspense lull for a moment.

Recommended to anyone who enjoys a smart and entertaining movie.

This was a very enjoyable film! The story line is intriguing. It is a bit slow to start, but definitely pulls you in as the plot unfolds.
It was great to see our little town featured! Very worth the watch

The plot is dark but funny, you’re on the edge the whole time with a surprise right until the end but you've got to be prepared for some humor through-out.

Hayseed is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates an amazing who-done-it movie.
